Meet Mrs. Repp
Hi Families and Students,
I'm so excited to being this wonderful journey at Middleton Elementary School! After graduating from Niles West High School and University of Illinois, in Champaign, with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and psychology, I lived in multiple states and explored multiple opportunities for teaching future leaders. Eventually, I chose to return home, and earned a masters degree in technology education from Concordia University. Growing and adapting to our changing world is a critical part of educating every student to succeed in the future.
I have taught seventh grade science for many years, but always missed the excitement and impact of teaching the younger students. One of my favorite roles, was as a STEM teacher in Antioch D34, working with second through fifth, and eighth graders, in a STEM specials class. During my time there, we used Project Lead the Way modules for our curriculum, but modified them to fit the culture and goals of the district. Although failure is never fun, I work hard to ensure that students feel comfortable failing and see it as something for celebration. Good engineers, scientists, artists, app developers, YouTubers, and other STEAM professionals, know that the first attempt in learning is rarely the masterpiece. I'm looking forward to continuing to learn and grow each year as students explore the STEAM world and prepare for a future beyond our imagination.
If you have any comments, questions, concerns, or stories you would like to share, please feel free to contact me!
